Physical Therapy (or Physiotherapy)

What does a physical therapist do? The American Physical Therapy Association defines PTs as being qualified to “diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very old, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan of care using skilled treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.” In many cases, physical therapists can manage or eliminate pain without the use of medication and also offer a possible alternative to surgery. It is a health science degree and involves scientifically sound techniques based on high-level research.
